As férias de Verão é a altura do ano ideal para relaxar, esquecer por alguns dias, na medida do possível, os problemas que temos de enfrentar durante o resto do ano. Por isso, nada mais agradável que este excelente disco, “Stars On 45 – Long Play Album”, gravado entre 1980 e 1981 e lançado em março de 1981, que inclui medleys com fragmentos de músicas não originais interpretadas ao ritmo “disco sound” com palmas intercaladas. O disco é espectacular, muito bem interpretado, foi um sucesso total na época e continua a ser muito agradável escutá-lo!

Stars On 45 foi um projecto do holandês Jaap Eggermont. Para o efeito, Eggermont contratou os vocalistas Bas Muys (como John Lennon), Hans Vermeulen (como George Harrison) e Okkie Huysdens (como Paul McCartney) para criar um medley dos Beatles. Para outros artistas e coros, os imitadores foram, Albert West, Arnie Treffers, Jody Pijper, Peter Vermeij e Tony Sherman. A banda era constituída apenas por músicos de estúdio sob a direcção de Jaap Eggermont, ex-Golden Earring que popularizou gravações em medley, às quais juntou um ritmo “disco sound” comum às faixas e uma bateria subjacente. Eggermont editou o primeiro álbum “Stars on 45, Long Play Album”, lançado com uma capa anónima e apresentando (Lado A) um mix de cerca de 16 minutos com temas dos Beatles e outras faixas (Lado B). O lançamento foi um sucesso não só na Holanda, mas também em todo o mundo. “The Stars on 45, Long Play Album” também se tornou um disco com vendas excepcionais um pouco por todo o mundo, superando as tabelas de êxitos do Reino Unido e Austrália, um sucesso top 10 na maior parte da Europa, tendo também alcançado o 9º lugar na parada de álbuns da Billboard, nos EUA.

Devido ao grande êxito, mais discos com medleys tributo foram produzidos, onde foram incluídas versões de grupos como, os ABBA, Stevie Wonder, Rolling Stones e, mais tarde, com The Star Sisters, também um medley das Andrews Sisters, de 1940.
A indústria fonográfica do Reino Unido também premiou o projecto como “o melhor álbum de disco, o melhor single e o melhor produtor de revelação”.
